Can is listed for sale in Craigslist ad:

phoenix.craigslist.org/car/253000084.html

Here is a rare 1967 Jaguar XKE Fastback Coupe/ NOT 2+2. It is rare because it is a NON RUST California Black Plate XKE. I will sell it as is (needs resto and engine and trans) for $10k or I will finish it for $18k. If I finish it on my own, I will put a Show Quality, Fully Polished, 400hp Corvette Fuel Injected 350 V8 and 700R4 trans (photo enclosed) so that its as fast as it looks. The original 6 cylinder is slow by todays standards. If I finish it for you, you can pick the colors, etc. This will make a really cool street rod!

Seller says he KNOWS how to modify the front frames to fit the Chevy V8 engine and be safe. Bah humbug!

Somebody save this car--please!

BTW, the seller says he bought the car five years ago with a frozen engine
and says he sold the original engine & trans to a local
Jaguar restoration expert who used the block in a E-Type
''race car'' thus the original engine and transmission are NLA at this point.

With the supply of straight, rust-free Series One cars dwindling, I hate to think of one getting "lumped." If the body is as good as the ad states, this car deserves to be put right.

Update: The guy says he has an offer of $8500 from Germany for the car as is (unmodified).

I think someone should buy it and donate it to XKE Data. ;^) I guarantee it won't be lumped.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
