    Ebay item 5/20/05
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $20,000.00 (Reserve not met), no bids, 9 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
This is a 1971 (Build date November 1970) late model Series 2 E Type roadster in exceptional condition. It has less than a hundred miles on it since it was repainted and had newly installed black interior and refinished boot with new matching mat. All body rubber is in excellent condition. The convertible top is in new condition. The chrome is excellent with only a few minor spots on a side light bezel. The engine, although not rebuilt at the time the rest of the car was done, runs like a rebuilt engine. It is smooth with a lot of power and no exhaust smoke at all. It appears to have excellent compression.

The car does need some work on the electrical system. i.e. the horn, side and rear running lights, backup lights and low beam on the head lights are not working. High beam, turn signals and brake lights all work normally. The cost to repair these has been taken into consideration in setting the reserve price.

It truly offers a new owner a wonderful opportunity to have an excellent driver once the above-referenced electrical problems are taken care of.

I am a classic Jaguar restorer/enthusiast selling this E Type for a friend who won the car on a charity raffle in New York City. The car was restored to the condition you see in the photographs in preparation for the raffle and was donated to the charity by a collector’s estate.

update on my car. unfortunately, the food of hurricane sandy killed off this great car. it was totalled and sent for salvage. i only had it for year and half but loved it. it was very reliable and i drove it every week weather permitting. put wide white wall tires on it that were a great look. just few weeks before storm, i entered it a show and it was a big hit with the crowd. oh well....

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
