Chassis No 2R14544

Details
This late S2 E-Type roadster was imported from The Hampton's in New York State in 2005 and was the property of a US Lawyer. The car appears to be very sound and once equipped with a new battery, fresh fuel and clean plugs it fired up and drove. It will require registering in the EU and recommissioning before use.
A rare opportunity to acquire a sound E-Type roadster, at a sensible price, which one can restore to ones own

Car now offered at:

Sellers description:
This is a great winter bargain! It is a 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Drophead Coupe. It is a Left Hand Drive USA Car and is one of the last 144 made with the 2R Chassis Number Prefix. This is a really solid car which drives but has been in storage for many years. It was owned by the previous New York Lawyer owner for about 20 years and was brought into the UK in 2005 where all EU taxes were paid. The car is in a shabby but original condition and is ripe for a light restoration this winter to your own specification. It is finished in Dark Blue with Tan Leather but I can also see Opalescent Silver Blue under the bonnet so perhaps this was the original colour? The heritage certificate would tell you this info. We are selling the car for recommissioning and it has no Tax or MOT and is not UK or French Registered although I have the US Registration papers and the EU Taxes Paid Form. This is a great, not rusty, project and for the price of a Fixed Head Coupe you can own a Drophead Coupe which will fetch a high price restored.
Interior:
The interior of our car is finished with Tan Leather It is OK without any major tears or rips but would benefit from retrimming. In its present state everything is there althought he carpets appear to be incomplete. All the dials and instruments are there although we have not tested them. The steering wheel is an incorrect Momo unit. There is a stereo fitted.
Exterior:
Our car is finished in Dark Blue and the paint finish suffers from microblistering all over it. it would benefit from a respray or you could simply leave it as a shabby driver. The Wire wheels are chrome and have started to corrode but look quite new and the tyres are nearly new. All the chrome would scrub up well and it is all complete.
Mechanical:
We are assured by the previous owner that the car was running and driving two weeks ago with no problems although stale fuel means we have not driven it ourselves. The battery terminals look new and everything seems complete although please note we are selling this car out of long term storage and you will need to recommission this car mechanically before using it on the road.
Summary:
This is one of the very last Series 2 Dropheads in Left Hand Drive format, it is perfect for your holiday home or as a continental cruiser. You can choose to restore this car to your own spec or simply get it running and driving as it is. Prices for E-Types are on the rise and it is difficult to find a good, solid, honest project car like this anymore. At this price I would suggest you be quick as you will be quite surprised at how good a project this is!
