We just bought this car from, I think, the second owner. It was originally Sable exterior with cinnamon interior. Now maroon with black interior. Nice driver condition car- always maintained, always ready to drive. Stored winters here in Pittsburgh. Manufactured 8/70, one of last six cylinder E-Types.

Sellers description:
Listed for sale by Coventry Garage LLC, is a 1971 JAGUAR E-TYPE ROADSTER that is in wonderful driving condition. We are offering it for sale at $36,000.00. We bought this car from the second owner who owned the car since 1986 (26 years). The car has only 50,900 miles on it. This car has been in continuous use; state inspected every year and has never been "long term" stored except for winters. This car is a very good driver: it starts right up, runs well and we have driven it up and down Interstate Rt. 79 at speeds up to 70 MPH. This car is a 4 speed manual roadster with original engine/original drive train and is a matching numbers car. This is one of the last 6 cylinder cars built before Jaguar went to the 12 cylinder XKE's. This is a very nice "driver" quality car
This car has all of its factory original components: consisting of a 4 speed manual transmission and 2 carburetor 6 cylinder in line Jaguar 4.2 liter engine. The car has a non-original paint color of a sort of "eggplant" maroon/burgundy color with a black interior- it looks very nice!. The car shows very nicely with newer black leather seats, seat foams, diaphragms, new arm rests, visors and new dash pad. The car was originally Sable brown exterior with a cinnamon tan colored interior and black vinyl top. The black vinyl convertible top is in nice shape and was replaced when the car was painted maroon. The car has only 50,900 miles on it: the present odometer was changed 8900 miles ago and a signed/notarized affidavit comes with the car stating that the odometer was changed when the car had 42000 miles on it. The odometer now has 8900 miles on the working odometer. This car runs great, starts very quickly and shifts nicely. This is a very nice driving car- the maroon paint shows very well, the chrome looks good and the trunk and engine compartments are very presentable and rust free. The trunk/spare tire well and engine supports are in the original Sable brown color. The underneath side of the bonnet is painted in the maroon color. The chrome wire wheels are in very nice condition. The engine compartment, trunk area and jacking tools are in excellent condition for their age. The car is very presentable as it sits. This car has great "road manners"; it starts quickly, shifts nicely, idles easily, steers easily with no shake or shimmy and the brakes work well.
The Car# on this car is 2R13790 ; the Body # is 4R 8543 ; the engine # is 7R10816-9 ; the transmission # is KE 12036 . This car is a left hand drive car AND WAS BUILT IN AUGUST 1970.
Major maintenance by previous owner: in 2011 the car had a new clutch master cylinder and new slave cylinder installed; in 2001 the car had the new leather seats and dash pad installed; in 1993 the window and bumper rubber seals were replaced along with new inner tie rod ends and motor mounts; in 1990 new lower radiator hoses; in 1989 new boot mat and new boot hardura side panels; in 1987 new upper ball joints and 4 new Michelin tires and tubes; in 1986 new starter, alternator and voltage regulator and speedometer replaced. All this along with the usual oil and filter changes are documented in a folder that goes with the car! There is a notarized affidavit attesting to what the mileage was when the speedo was changed and we have a photo of the original speedo which is hanging on the previous owner's wall along with the original steering wheel. This car has a beautiful aftermarket Moto-Lita wooden 14" steering wheel and horn push.
We have just changed the engine oil, oil filter and air filter. The spare tire, jack and jacking tools are still with the car and will go to the new owners. All of the lights work, all of the gauges work, the horns work and all of the chrome shines nicely. This car has a working radio. The interior door panels and vinyl hardura panels are in great shape. The engine compartment and trunk area are very clean and original. The original Dunlop SP Sport spare tire is still in the trunk/boot and it looks brand new. All the glass and chrome are in nice original condition. We do have more photos of the floors from underneath the car and can send them to you. The floors are in nice condition especially at the large radius arm connections in the rear. The front passenger side foot well has been repaired with a fiberglass patch towards the front edge and is visible in the photos. We think that the two outer sills were changed when the car was painted in the maroon color and they are very solid. The trunk/boot area is in very nice condition; the rear spare tire well is in excellent shape. There are no holes in the trunk area. The gas tank does not leak. The car does leak some motor oil as all older British cars tend to do but the engine does not smoke or overheat at all. We drove the car about 22 miles in traffic on an 85 degree day and no overheating. The oil pressure gauge stays at about 40 lbs. when the engine is warm. THIS CAR IS A VERY NICE, VERY WELL BEHAVED DRIVER! The paint is not perfect- it has a few marks/dings in it which is why we are calling it a "driver" quality car- not a ready for "concours" show car. This car is ready to drive- we feel that you can drive it home. I would have no problem driving it to Cleveland today.
We have tried to describe this car as accurately as possible; all the good and bad features have been addressed in this advertisement. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT this car is now 41 years old. If you come out to see this Series II E-Type we can put the car up on our lift for you so you can view the car from underneath.

This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster was purchased by the seller in 2012, and a $77k refurbishment at Catz Automotive in Youngstown, Ohio was completed in 2020. Work consisted of refinishing the body in British Racing Green, retrimming the Biscuit leather upholstery and coordinated top, overhauling the brakes, and replacing the knock-off 15″ wire wheels, tires, and stainless-steel exhaust system. The car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential and is also equipped with a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. This XKE roadster is now offered with the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, a car cover, and transferable New York registration in the seller’s name.
The seller states that the car was originally painted Sable, and it has been repainted Regency Red at some point before their purchase. Catz Automotive in Youngstown, Ohio refurbished the car beginning in 2017, with work including stripping the exterior to bare metal, replacing the footwells, and repainting the body British Racing Green. The tan soft top, matching boot, left-side mirror, weather stripping, windshield washer assembly, bonnet stone guard, and plate lamps were also replaced, and the chrome bumpers were re-plated. The side markers and taillights do not work.
Replacement 15″ wire wheels, two-eared knock-off, and hubs were installed and 205/75 Nexan tires were mounted. The brake master cylinder, booster, and rotors were also replaced.
Biscuit seat covers were fitted and the door cards were replaced along with the upholstery on the center console, shift lever boot, armrest, and behind the seats, and the carpeting was replaced both in the cabin and trunk. Tan seat belts were installed along with a replacement wood-rimmed steering wheel. The heater core is disconnected and requires replacement, the clock does not work, and the seller reports static from the radio.
Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The odometer was replaced with 43k miles showing in 1986, and the car currently shows 9k miles. The seller has added approximately 2k miles.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was rated at 245 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors were rebuilt and the following components were replaced during the refurbishment:
Aluminum radiator
Fan
Hoses
Fuel pump
Hydraulic lines
Ignition components
Labels and decals
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch cylinders were replaced along with the stainless-steel exhaust system and torsion bar shields.
Images during the refurbishment and records are provided in further detail in the gallery below.
The chassis plate has been replaced and incorrectly lists car number 8R13970. The car is registered by VIN 2R137900. The removed plate is available. The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is sold with its transferable New York registration.
