This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II roadster is a non-running project that was partially stripped for a stalled race car conversion over three decades ago. It is finished in red and is equipped with a 4.2-liter inline-six fitted with triple Weber carburetors and linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, and a Nardi steering wheel. This XKE roadster was acquired by the current owner in 2022 and is now being offered on their behalf by the seller at no reserve with spare parts and a clean California title in the owner’s name.
The car is finished in red and is not equipped with bumpers or taillights, though the seller notes that the taillights will accompany the vehicle. Areas of prior repairs are visible on the rear panel. Rust repair has been performed on both sills, and bubbling is viewable on the inside of the left sill. No soft top or bows are included in the sale.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off hubs and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint tires measuring 185/70. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin has been largely stripped, though it retains the dashboard, emergency brake, shifter, and Nardi steering wheel. There are cracks in the dashboard.
Smiths instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 76k miles.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is fitted with triple Weber carburetors and is linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The emissions equipment and exhaust components have been removed. The seller states that the engine turns over by hand, though it is unknown when the car was last started or running.
