Ebay item 1/25/18 www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Jaguar-E-Type-MATCHING-NUMBERS-ENGINE-AUTO-AC/372204225573
Car has a buy it now price of $27,950 for 20 days, seller kurttannermotorcars, car now said to be in Santa Ana, California, mileage reported 621.
Sellers description:
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very straight and solid 2+2 V-12 Coupe. This car was just purchased from it's Northern California owner. The car runs and drives and has very decent paintwork that could use a color sand and buff. This car was painted a while back but was never returned to the paintshop for a final cut and polish. We sanded and buffed the right front fender, and the results are superb. The rest of the car could look the same...
The body on this car is very decent and straight with no signs of rust or accidents. The car's underside looks superb, completely solid and original with no apparent issues, and even a fairly dry driveline. Chrome is average to very good on most items, with some really good chrome showing on the brass items such as the door and window frames. Original color appears to be Fawn or Putty, which is still seen cleanly in the engine compartment
The car's interior trim is mostly all original with some nice pieces in good condition. Seat bottoms, at least, need some attention along with a new headliner.
The car's matching numbers engine will start up, run and drive. A short test run showed very good oil pressure with a silent, smooth engine, no smoke. The transmission shifted OK through all of it's gears. The car has been stored for almost the last 30 years, so a major full service/ tune up, along with possibly a carburetor set rebuild and brake attention is surely needed ! The car idles rough most likely due to carb settings, vacuum line leaks, etc.
Overall, a super solid and honest California E-type. This could easily be a very nice and attractive usable sports car with a major tune-up and some easy interior work.
