Ebay item 9/17/04
www.robisonservice.com services Jaguar for Western Massachusetts. We have seen many of these cars over the years. It’s very rare to find an original piece like this. Most of these cars have been redone, modified, and they have had 10 owners. Not this one!

Our company has serviced this car for the last fourteen years. When we first saw it, in 1990, it had 52,700 miles on the odometer. So as you can see, it has not been used in a long time. We have a long service history on the vehicle. It’s been well cared for and hardly used in the time we’ve known it.

The car has never been used in winter. It has seldom seen rain, and it has always been garaged.

This car is too old to be checked on Carfax but I can tell you the history here:

Our client received this car from her car when she graduated high school here in Western MA about 1975. At that time her father registered the car to his company. About ten years later they decided to transfer the car from the company to her. When they did so the mileage was estimated at 55,000.

As a result the mileage that the car is being sold with is slightly lower than the miles recorded on the title at that date. I have a notarized affidavit from the owner that says she has owned the car all that time – before and after the title transfer, and that the 55,000 is a recording error, and the miles shown are true and correct.

I have driven the car and verified that the odometer, speedometer, and all other gauges work properly.

The wire wheels and tires were replaced recently because the original rims would no longer hold air and the tires had dry rotted.

The body is very good in terms of rust. The photos show the underside. As you can see there are no rust holes, no patches, just some small spots of surface rust. The upper body is very good with only a few dings, the most visible of which is on the right front of the hood.

The interior is complete. The leather is not ripped but it does show wear as does the vinyl. The top is OK with the exception of a 2 inch tear at the corner where it meets the right door (shown in photos). The spare tire is present, as are the original tools and manuals. The jack is present. The wheel hammer is missing, but those are readily available.

We installed a nice stainless exhaust system on this car about ten years ago, and it’s still in pretty much the same shape as when we fitted it. Fluids are fresh. Brakes are good. Tires as noted before are new Michelin.

The car has had the radio replaced, and a third stop light kit was added to the deck lid back in the late 1980s when they first came out. Otherwise this car is completely stock.

The car has the usual fluid leaks, none of which are terrible. Take a look at the photo of the underside and you’ll see. The air conditioner fan only blows on high – the resistor is bad. The heater fan is noisy.

The engine is fine shape. The car sounds like a WWII fighter plane about to take off when it idles, and it has a lot of power. The transmission, brakes, steering, and suspension are fine.

This car just passed Massachusetts safety inspection, so all the lights, wipers, horn, seat belts, etc were working fine.

This is an original car. It was painted in the 1980s but is otherwise the way Jaguar made it. It has never been wrecked, and it has never been restored. The paint is showing some fading, the leather some wear, and the motor is dirty. But the car is all here, all original, essentially rust free. It’s truly a rare find.

This Jaguar is in fine shape to be driven home by a buyer anywhere in the Northeast. It is a good driver just as it is, and it would be an excellent basis for a restoration project. It’s all here and for the most part it all works.

I encourage bidders to inspect this car before bidding – it’s a 30 year old vehicle and you should know what you are getting into buying one.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
