I am parting with an old friend – my 1969 E-type roadster. I bought this car from its second owner about eight years ago and have driven it on weekends regularly. The car was restored a dozen or so years ago and is showing some signs of wear. Today it has 83,000 original miles. It is not a “show car” but a great driver that is very presentable at local shows.

If you are not familiar with the series II, this is the best E-type to own if you want a car you can drive. It is more comfortable than the early models and much more reliable than the 12 cylinder models.

CONDITION:
INTERIOR/TOP: The interior is in good shape, but not perfect. The seats are Conley Hides and show very little wear, the dash and top cover look good, the carpets and mats show a few wear marks and the console arm rest is slightly worn. The convertible top is not new, but looks good and the rear window is not clouded.

EXTERIOR/PAINT/CHROME: From 10 feet away the car looks great. If you get closer you will see some blemishes. It was repainted in a metallic dark blue that is not an original color but looks very sharp against the biscuit interior. The paint has had a few small chips that were touched up as shown in the pictures and a few small scratches that could be easily corrected. Overall the chrome has very few scratches.

GAUGES/INSTRUMENTS/LIGHTS: All the gauges and instruments operate as expected with the exception of the tachometer, it is not accurate. All the lights work and there are no other known electrical issues.

ENGINE/DRIVE TRAIN: The engine is strong with good oil pressure and good compression. It runs great and never overheats.

WHEELS/TIRES/BRAKES: The tires are like new with the exception of the spare. The chrome wires are shiny and in good shape. The brake master cylinder leaks a little and should be replaced, otherwise the brakes are good and there is no problem braking from high speeds with no pulling or grabbing.

UNDER HOOD/UNDERCARRIAGE: The motor and engine compartment are fairly clean, but the engine is not detailed. There are a few small leaks but nothing significant. There is a little surface rust under the car and on some of the suspension parts.

Since last May 2005 when this vehicle was acquired, it has undergone numerous upgrades and repairs, some cosmetic and some essential. It's been refitted with a new clutch master cylinder, brake master cylinder, spark plugs, thermostat, knock off hubs, and radiator hoses. The carburettors and front brakes have also been rebuilt. It now rides well, stops on a dime and no longer overheats. Although a full restoration is not anticipated at this time, this Spring the plan is to work on some of the minor rust and paint issues.
