Car to be at auction 3/12
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 149 - 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster
Estimate: €48,000 - €60,000
Registration Number: Dutch Registered
Chassis Number: 1R13507

We are pleased to offer today a late Series II roadster, sold new in the USA in 1970 and imported into the Netherlands in 2001.

Following a decade of further careful use after which the car had still covered fewer than 40,000 miles in total, it was given a professional restoration by Dutch specialists to an impressive standard over a period of two years from 2010-11; invoices and a photographic record and the relevant invoices are available in the car's history, and the car has covered less than 1000 miles since this work.

The delightful original colour scheme was preserved, Willow Green, with beige leather and weather equipment. It currently carries Dutch registration.

I bought the car March 2012 at the Coys' auction at Essen Technoclassica. Perfectly restored, imported into NL in 2001.

1R13507 is still going strong in the Netherlands. I have now owned the E-type eight years and still enjoy it tremendously.

Winter 2024 now, just went for a nice drive. In 2023 the 4-speed gearbox has been completely rebuilt and I finally got new period-correct 185 size Michelin tyres (still had the 2012 on the car..) It has become my car of choice at our Zeeland beach house.

Latest photos were taken on a sunny afternoon during the greyest ever Christmas holiday with fog, drizzle and no light whatsoever.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
