This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 2+2 coupe is finished in Carmen Red over black leather and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes sealed-beam open headlights, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, a CD stereo, and a heater. The seller purchased the car in 2006, and work since 2020 has involved replacing the cylinder head gaskets, starter, and battery. This XKE Series 1.5 2+2 coupe is now offered at no reserve with the owner’s manual, service records, and transferable New York registration in the seller’s name.
This example is finished in Carmen Red, and additional equipment includes sealed-beam open headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a driver-side mirror, rear vent windows, a side-hinged rear hatch, and dual exhaust outlets. The hood was repaired and repainted in 2019, and the spare tire well was also refinished at that time.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by rounded knock-offs and are mounted with Pirelli tires measuring 205/70. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The shocks were replaced in 2016.
The 2+2 cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in black leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, a CD stereo, aftermarket speakers mounted behind the rear seats, and a heater. The clock is inoperative.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 86k miles, approximately 10k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was factory rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. Pertronix electronic ignition has been added. The carburetors were rebuilt and the ignition switch replaced in 2018. The cylinder head gaskets were replaced in 2020, a replacement starter was installed in 2021, and the battery was replaced the following year.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission. The clutch master cylinder was replaced in 2018. A glasspack muffler has been added.
The vehicle is being sold on its New York registration, which serves as an ownership document in New York.
