I note that this car was supposedly last seen in Arizona in 2000. I have owned it since 1997 and purchased it in Ohio from a gentlemen who purchased it from a dealer in Florida, who in turn had purchased it from Barrett-Jackson in Arizona. It has not been out of my area in the last 7 years and has been driven less than 5000 miles in that time. Is there a duplicate number or is the data in error?

this car mis categorized as a series 1.5, it has been widely published that the series 1.5 did not begin until car 1E15980.

Not correct. This is a series 1.5 per the JCNA '68 Judges' Guide, page 2, based on the OTS, LHD Build Records. Series 1 ended at 1E15888.

I agree. Your xkedata.com website has also confirmed the same information in the "About the XKE" section under "Models", showing the differences between the 4.2 Series 1 and the Series 1.5. This car is a Series 1 1/2.

    Car on BAT

Update to JCNA observations and records, this car has gained the moniker of S1.25, not official but as a convenience to discriminate between the S1 and S1.5. The S1.25 is 100% S1 with the only difference being open headlights. This car has been converted as open headlights was implemented in January of '67 this car being built in July '67. One month later the S1.5 cars were beginning to be built, they are considerably different as the interior (safety mandates) and drive train (emission mandates) are that of a S2 car. Car previously said to be in Cincinnati, OH.

Private Party or Dealer: Private Party

    Lot #74636

This 1967 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that is said to have been sold new in California and was moved to the midwest in the early 2000s where it was acquired by the seller as a partially-refurbished project in September 2013. The car had been previously refinished in black and completion of the refurbishment in 2014 included the installation of a grey soft top over a reupholstered grey leather interior as well as overhauls of its 4.2-liter inline-six and four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes triple SU carburetors, rack-and-pinion steering, a limited-slip differential, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15″ center-lock wire wheels. This XKE is offered with refurbishment records, a tool set and jack, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Indiana title in the seller’s name.

The car was factory-finished in Primrose Yellow and was repainted black under previous ownership. The replacement soft top was installed under current ownership and features a refurbished lead-filled anti-buffet bag. Additional equipment includes wraparound chrome bumpers with guards as well as headlight covers, a louvered clamshell hood, dual center-exit exhaust outlets, and a reverse light.

Chrome 15″ wire wheels secured with branded two-eared knock-off nuts wear Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were mounted during the refurbishment. A matching spare is stowed beneath the trunk floor. Work on the front suspension included rebuilding the upper ball joints and replacing the lower ball joints as well as the rack boots and outer tie-rod ends. Braking is managed by four-wheel discs with extended caliper bleed lines for the inboard-mounted rear units.

The cockpit has been reupholstered in Dove Grey leather with matching Hardura panels and carpeting overlaid with black rubber mats. Amenities include front bucket seats, an adjustable steering column, an open glovebox, a passenger-side grab handle, a padded center armrest, and a push-button British Leyland AM radio.

A refurbished wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 160-mph Smiths speedometer and a matching 6k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles, 2k of which were driven by the seller. True mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory-rated at 265 horsepower and breathes through triple SU carburetors that were synced under current ownership as well as ceramic-coated exhaust manifolds. European Auto Specialists of Cincinnati, Ohio, performed a rebuild in 2010 that included boring the block, reconditioning the crankshaft, cylinder head, and rods, and replacing the timing chains and dampers, the rod and main bearings, the oil and water pumps, and the pistons.

The number 7E140359 stamped on the cylinder head matches the number stamped on the chassis plate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission was overhauled and a clutch kit installed in 2010.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate indicates a manufacture date of July 12th, 1967 and distribution through Jaguar Cars of New York as well as the factory serial numbers and colors.

    Lot #142842

This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster had a refurbishment completed in 2014 and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is refinished in black over gray leather and equipped with triple SU carburetors, rack-and-pinion steering, a limited-slip differential, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15″ center-lock wire wheels. It was first offered on BaT in May 2022, and the selling dealer acquired it in June 2022. This XKE is now offered in Canada with a toolset and jack, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and British Columbia registration.

The Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example was finished at the factory in Primrose Yellow and refinished under previous ownership in black. Additional equipment includes a replacement gray soft top with a lead-filled anti-buffet bag as well as a soft top boot, enclosed headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, dual exhaust outlets, and a reverse light.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off hubs and are mounted with 185-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. A matching spare is stowed beneath the trunk floor. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors with extended caliper bleed lines. Work on the front suspension in 2010 included rebuilding the upper ball joints and replacing the lower ball joints, the rack boots, and the outer tie-rod ends.

The cabin features bucket seats reupholstered in gray leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, an adjustable steering column, an open glovebox, a passenger-side grab handle, a padded center armrest, and a push-button British Leyland AM radio.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles, less than 100 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and ceramic-coated exhaust manifolds, and it was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque.

The cylinder head stamp reads 7E140359 and matches the number stamped on the chassis plate.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission was overhauled and a clutch kit was installed in 2010.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.

A chassis jack, an owner’s manual, and a tool kit accompany the car.

The vehicle is being sold on its British Columbia registration, which serves as the ownership document in British Columbia, Canada.
