Lot #194841

This 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster was built for the current owner by E-Type UK in Kent, England, in 2021 to their Unleashed V12 specification, and it is finished in black over a custom Biscuit leather interior. The V12 was reportedly rebuilt, increased in displacement to 6.1-liters, and fitted with Jenvey individual throttle body fuel injection. A five-speed manual transmission was also installed, along with LED lighting, power windows, a Bluetooth radio, air conditioning, a push-button start, and custom 16″ knock-off wire wheels as well as upgraded suspension, brake, and cooling system components. This Series III E-Type is now offered on dealer consignment in California with a matching hardtop and a clean Michigan title.

Previously finished in white, the car was repainted black during the build, at which time the cross member was lowered and the sills were reportedly strengthened. The black hardtop features a heated glass rear window, and additional alterations include LED lighting and a single-piece rear bumper. The black soft top is shown above.

Custom 16″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with Michelin Primacy 3 tires measuring 225/60. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and the brakes have been modified with an anti-lock system and a big brake kit with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers. Upgraded suspension and torsion bars were added during the build.

The cabin features aftermarket seats trimmed in Biscuit leather, and leather upholstery extends to the door panels and dash. Amenities include a push-button start, air conditioning, power windows, aftermarket pedals, a wide-angle rear view mirror, and a digital Bluetooth radio.

The leather-wrapped Moto-Lita steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 63k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership.

Jenvey individual throttle bodies were also installed along with an aluminum radiator, dual cooling fans, tubular headers, and a replacement exhaust system with quad tips.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed Tremec T5 manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
