This 1974 Jaguar E-Type roadster was sold new from Economy Cars Limited of North Kansas City, Missouri, in June 1975 and was acquired by the seller’s father in May 2012. The car is finished in yellow over tan upholstery and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black removable hardtop, a black soft top, chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, air conditioning, and a Clarion AM/FM/cassette radio. Work in preparation for the sale is said to have included rebuilding the carburetors and front brake calipers, overhauling the air conditioning, resealing the valve covers, intake manifolds, and differential, recoring the radiator, and the replacement of the water pump, coolant hoses, an air pump, exhaust, belts, tune-up components, a battery, fronts and rear dampers, front and rear brake rotors, pads, and hoses, clutch and brake hydraulic components, a driveshaft boot, differential bearings, an exhaust heat shield, and the carpets. This Series III E-Type is offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner at no reserve with a window sticker, original sales paperwork, manufacturer’s literature, and a Washington title.
Originally delivered in Primrose Yellow, the car features a black removable hardtop, a black soft top, black bumperettes, central twin exhaust outlets, and bright-finished elements including a driver-side mirror, window surrounds, trim, and bumpers. Wear depicted in the photo gallery below includes indentations, paint chips, checking, and tears in the soft top.
Chrome-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 205/70 Michelin Energy MXV4 tires. Front and rear independent suspension was standard on the E-Type, as were four-wheel disc brakes with inboard rear units.
The cabin features high-back bucket seats trimmed in tan with a matching center armrest, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes air conditioning, three-point seat belts, a dash-mounted Kienzle analog clock, and a Clarion AM/FM/cassette radio. The seller states the carpets were replaced in preparation for the sale.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer indicates 21k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The 5.3-liter V12 features two Zenith-Stromberg carburetors on each cylinder bank and was factory rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque of torque. Work said to have been carried in preparation for the sale included replacing an exhaust shield, a hood strut, and a driveshaft boot.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
Documentation accompanying the car includes manufacturer’s literature, 1975-dated sales paperwork, and a window sticker detailing colors, equipment, and initial delivery to Economy Cars Limited of North Kansas City, Missouri, with a $10,881 total price.
The Washington title lists a “classic” brand.
