    Ebay item 9/19/11

Current bid $20,522 reserve not met, 3 bids 5 days left in auction. 58k miles.

    Sellers description:
Very straight 1974 V12 E type. It was in storage for around 10-15 years. It was then brought out of storage in early summer of 2008 and professionally returned to top condition. The engine sounds and performs excellently. It burns no oil.

The paint is in driver's condition and was redone around 1990. The paint is red but in some of the photos appears somewhat orange in color, due to the camera I was using. It appears to have been a complete restoration, painting all metal, including frames inside the engine bay, etc. 95% of the paint is in very good shape. There are a couple of spots around the door handles where the paint has deteriorated, and you can see those areas in the photos. Those are the only places like that.

The interior is in excellent condition. New headrests foam was recently installed. The entire interior was removed early in 2011 to install Dynamat and Dynaliner, and no rust was found. All of the interior switches work. The inertia seatbelt system has been upgraded to a modern unit. The car has air conditioning, but when removed for service, the decision was that the engine bay looked better without it, so it has been boxed it up and put it in storage and is available with the car. The same is true with the emissions equipment and the original bumper overriders.

Other significant work that has been done over the past three years includes rebuilding carburetors, rebuilding the front calipers, replacing all rubber hoses, updating the ignition system, replacing steering rack with rebuilt unit, replacing from suspension bushings, installing new oil filter housing to accommodate modern filters, new front brake pads, new fuel pump and new radiator expansion tanks. The tires have around 5,000 miles on them. All receipts from the past three years have been carefully kept and will come with car. The car does have a Jaguar Heritage Certificate.

I would appreciate very much if you would provide details on what it took to replace the 74 over-riders with those of a 72. Thanks!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
