Car to be at auction 9/14:
    www.silverstoneauctions.com/jaguar-e-type-series-3-roadster

    Auction description:
    The Autumn Sale
1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III Roadster
    Lot No.: 263

    Registration: TBA
    Chassis Number: UD1S23062BW
    Engine Number: TBA
    Number of cylinders: 12
    CC: 4200cc
    Year of Manufacture: 1973
    Estimate (£): 35,000 - 40,000

This highly original Primrose yellow Series III Roadster has been in the same family since new in 1973. Having spent most of its life in the warm climbes of the 'The Golden State' of California, the body shows no signs of rust and the soft top remains unmarked, testament to its infrequent use. For the entirety of its life in the United States, the car had been lovingly stored in a heated garage.

The car is equipped with air conditioning, power steering and automatic transmission, which can only have made driving the open roads of California a sheer delight. We are informed by the vendor that the car drives well, the engine bay is very clean and the paint is in excellent condition. He also comments that the beige leather interior is in first class order.

With a believed genuine 58,381 miles from new and a fresh MOT, this beautiful example is ready to be registered anywhere within Europe. All import duties have been paid and this lovely roadster is ready for registration anywhere in Europe.

Lot 223 at Historics of Brooklands Auction Sale of Classic and Sports Cars on 29 August 2015. Described as a handsome and highly original roadster finished in primrose yellow. The car shows little sign of having ever had any paintwork undertaken and the beige interior trim has a lovely patina to it. Equipped with power steering, automatic transmission and air conditioning, this series 3 is described as driving with no known faults. The silky V12 engine purrs in a way few other vehicles do and the gearbox is smooth in operation. It is believed to have only covered 58,600 miles since it left Browns Lane 42 years ago. Sold for £35,600.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
