Ebay item 6/4/08

Current bid $20,000 reserve not met, 1 bid, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
We have decided to sell this fabulous XKE. We are the 2nd owners of this Original California E Type bought new at Sacramento British Motor Cars on Oct 31, 1972. I have a fascinating and extensive history of this E-Type, documented by the original owner a Doctor in Northern California. I have included in the pictures just some of the information and paperwork through-out its existence. There is an original brochure given to the Dr with the salesmen's business card attached and some interesting pen marks on lease terms and option prices. There is the original purchase order. The total new price 10,207.50 There is a very detailed service history. We purchased the car in 1999. In 1990 the engine was overhauled as well as the power steering and front suspension. We have driven the car probably less than 3000 miles in the 9 years we have owned it. The power brake booster and master brake cyl were just rebuilt less than 200 miles ago. As far as we can tell from the service history the car has somewhere around 30k original miles on it. Being a California car its entire life there is absolutely no rust on this car that we can find. It is very solid. The front bonnet is very straight and has never been nosed. The front scoop has not been smashed up. The bonnet fits as it should when delivered from the factory. The only body damage on the car is on the rear right side fender a slight crease and under the rear tub area. We forgot to set the brake and the car rolled slowly and came to rest against a low fence. I have included pictures of this damage. The original color was pale primrose. The doctor had the car repainted in 1985 for which there is a receipt. He left the frame rails, under bonnet and firewall original. The paint job is ok but would be nice repainted in the original color. There seems to be one very small oil leak, (couple of drops on the floor) which we have not tried to isolate it but it is most likely a cam cover rubber. The air conditioner is complete but not hooked up. The radiator fans where rebuilt about 4 years ago and the radiator was rodded-out at the same time. We have the aluminum rain guards and fiberglass radiator shield. The car came originally with the crome turbo wheels but we changed them out for the wires. The tires have alot of tread on them. She starts right up and runs just fine. All gauges seem to be working. The soft top and interior are original but could stand to be replaced. There is a complete new carpet kit in the trunk. The original top boot and tools are in the trunk. The car also has the original hardtop with original black paint. it is in nice shape with only 1 small tear (hardly noticeable) in the headliner. the rear window is nice and we have a new rubber seal for the hard top. I have tried to honestly describe this car. It is a very solid car and a great candidate for a show car. Come look it over bring your magnets you will find no bondo or fillers in the body. If the car does not sell at the very Fair reserve I have set, It will be sent out for paint and interior and I will re-list it @ a much higher price.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
