This 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster was sold new at Tom Jones Pontiac/Jaguar of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and reportedly remained registered to its original owner before being acquired by the seller in 2024. The car is finished in Sable over Moss Green leather and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Features include a black soft top, a top boot, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, quadruple carburetors, an AM/FM radio, and air conditioning. This Series III E-Type is now offered with the owner’s manual, 1973 retail order invoice, 1973 delivery documents, initial 1973 title, service records, a jack and knock-off hammer, and Connecticut registration in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in Sable and features a black soft top, a matching top boot, uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, US-spec bumpers, and a power antenna. The trunk seal and grille moldings were replaced under current ownership. There is a dent on the left quarter panel aft of the rear wheel and a repaired tear in the soft top. The seller notes prior paintwork on the right front portion of the hood and paint crazing on horizontal surfaces. A paint correction with ceramic coating was performed in 2025, and photos of paint meter readings are provided in the gallery.
The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and were mounted with 205/70 Dunlop Signature tires in 2020. Additional service at that time included rebuilding the power steering rack and brake master cylinder along with replacing the front brake hoses and tie rod ends. The ball joints and front shocks were replaced in 2021.
The cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in Moss Green leather as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior amenities include an AM/FM radio, a locking glovebox, and air conditioning.
The steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 41k miles, approximately 400 of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.3-liter V12 was rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new. The factory-equipped quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors were rebuilt in 2014. A spin-on oil filter adapter was installed and fluid changes were performed in 2025.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Work in 2013 involved replacing the clutch master and release cylinders along with the stainless-steel exhaust H-pipe. A replacement fantail exhaust pipe and the rear and center mufflers were installed in 2021, while a dry ice cleaning was performed in 2024.
The initial 1973 retail order invoice from Tom Jones Pontiac lists a total price of $9,016. The first title for the car issued in 1973 along with additional documentation and service records are included.
The vehicle is being sold on its Connecticut registration, which serves as an ownership document in Connecticut.
