Ebay item 4/11/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $10,000.00 (Reserve not met), no bids yet, 9 days left in acution.

Sellers description:
I have owned this vehicle since 1977. It was originally sold in June 1973 by the dealer in San Antonio, Texas. I purchased it in San Antonio with 11,000 miles on the odometer. It has a four speed manual, cold, cold AC and original slot chrome wheels. One hubcab has a slight depression. The car has been driven exclusively by me since then. It has mostly highway miles. The car has always been in Texas but has been to Florida a couple of times in the 80's for a month at a time. It has never been to or kept near a beach. The car has never been in an accident. I resprayed the car in the 1981 after a big left side door ding which occurred when I opened the door in a wind and it bumped a post.We used original sable lacquer from Jaguar. As you can see it matches the underside of the bonnet. The car has never had a fire or been submerged. Although the car has been stored in an air conditioned garage during my entire ownership, the lacquer paint has some crazing or cracking especially on the left in front of the windscreen and in the rear over the side fender area. The hood has a weld separation that is about two inches long. It is on the cowl end and occured after I put on a new rubber seal. I shut the hood and the weld popped. There is a small area of either rust or orange peel in front of the right headlamp right in the middle of the flat area...not at the edge. I think it is orange peel on the paint but do not know for sure. There is a very small dent in front of the bonnet louvre on the left. A stone must have come up from below as the dent goes upward. There is a 2mm chip on the edge of the drivers door.

At the same time as the repaint, I reupholstered the seats in brown Connolly leather including the seat backs. Jaguar dies were used to produce correct leather perforation. The same craftsman who did this project, totally restored my Sr. National awarding winning Silver Cloud III. I still retain this car. There is very slight wear on the drivers seat of the Jaguar. The passenger seat is unworn. The top was remade with Rolls Royce Everflex in the same sable color as were the door panels. It has been stowed about ten years as I use the hardtop. When the hardtop is not on, I just park it in the A/C garage with the cover over it. Last year I replaced the carpet with new brown Wilton wool bound in the same brown leather as the seats as I retained a hyde. The tonneau cover was also remade in black leather. The trunk has a nice Wilton wool carpet. The trunk lid does not stay up on its own. It probably needs a spring but I just noticed it so it hasn't been corrected. The dash is in original condition. The radio is the original British Leyland but the knobs are not original. It works and the attenna is new. The antenna is electric The car has NEVER been smoked in and the cigarette lighter has been deactivated. Rubber parts have been replaced continuously over the years. The car also has an original hardtop which is the color of the car. The hardtop is not original to this car however. The rear window is in great shape and has good clarity. The hardtop fits perfectly.

I have no known engine, transmission or clutch problems other than the usual minor drips. I would estimate I get four or five drops a day..maybe less. Not more. I have some spare parts which I will include. A used gas tank which I bought in 1979. A four outlet exhaust extension(new), various switches, belts etc. It may be I can't find some the items in the garages, but I'll do the best I can. The tires have no noticeable wear but they are from the early nineties as I remember so you might want to replace them. All of the records from 1977 will convey. I have most of the receipts from over the years. My ownership has seen a continual record of maintanance. I have all the records. There are bills for $11,000 in the past five years alone...nothing major either...just doing what needed to be done. The oil and fluids have been replaced every six months regardless of the usage. The car has not been sitting in storage. It is in an active collection with my Rolls, Bentley,2 Lexus and Mercedes and is driven a couple of times per month. Visually I would rate the car as from very presentable to "proud to be seen in it". Styling aside, it always is admired when out. It has always been reliable. It starts at the first turn of the key without fail. The few times that I have been gone for a few months...upon my return...it starts immediately. It has a very oil drips but nothing out of the ordinary for this marque. I am selling this car for three reasons. First, I just can't get in it anymore. I even sold my 3,000 mile 04 SL 600 Mercedes recently for this same reason. Secondly, my sons have no interest in cars. Thirdly, I prefer cars with airbags now.

In summary, this is an extremely attractive but not perfect example of a continuously used car. It looks terrific from 10 feet away. Close inspection reveals the defects that I have noted above. I have perfect cars which I am loathe to drive. This car is one that you can get out on the road on and not be afraid of getting another rock chip or rain drop on.
