This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II coupe is a running project that was acquired by the current owner in 2000, and it is finished in Regency Red over tan leather. The car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a louvered clamshell hood, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a cassette stereo, and a heater. This XKE coupe is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner in Nebraska with spare parts and a clean Iowa title in the owner’s name, listing it as a 1971 model year.
The car is finished in Regency Red, and exterior equipment includes sealed-beam open headlights, a driver-side mirror, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a louvered clamshell hood, and dual exhaust outlets. There is rust on the bottom of the doors and on the rockers. The front right turn signal lens is broken, and blemishes around the body are shown in the gallery.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by rounded knock-offs and are mounted with 185/70 Dunlop tires. The four-wheel disc brakes are inoperative.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in tan leather along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Interior appointments include a cassette stereo, a locking glovebox, and a heater.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. The car runs and drives, though the seller notes that it requires servicing and inspection.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. There is rust on the rear corner of the fuel tank.
