www.historics.co.uk/buying/online-catalogue/jaguar-e-type-sii-white.aspx

Auction description:
Auction Date: 18 May 2011
Lot 275 - 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster
Registration: DDG 914J
Chassis Number: P2R14482
Engine Number: 7R14193-9
Odometer reading: 57,838
Estimate: £30,000-£36,000

This example was originally supplied as an export vehicle to the American market in California. Repatriated to the UK some 20 years as a rust free car, restoration work began, which included changing the steering to right hand drive. Whilst carrying out the restoration, the engine was completely rebuilt, together with extensive trim and coachwork repairs. Finished in Old English White, with black trim, the current vendor has enjoyed 10 years of ownership of this Jaguar Series II 4.2 Roadster. Supplied with a V5 document and a current MoT test certificate until November 2011, this is an opportunity to purchase a much cherished Jaguar E-Type.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
