Current bid $1,025 reserve not met, 4 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1970 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 Coupe that has been off the road since 1987. The car was hit in the rear and pushed into the car in front of it, resulting in damage at both ends. The owner of the car drove the car home, parked it in their garage, and it sat there up until about a month ago. This example is very original, and would either make a great full restoration candidate, or a very complete parts car. After pulling the car out of storage, the carbs were rebuilt. With a fresh battery and fuel fed from a separate tank, it instantly ran and sounds healthy.

Exterior: The paint job is a cheap respray of the original blue, and is flaking off. There seems to be some minor filler work done along the bottom edges of the car, likely done at the same time as the current paint job. The damage from the accident is limited to the front and rear panels. The door gaps are good. The front damage could be eliminated with a good used bonnet, or an ambitious body man could bang it out. The rear could also be fixed with a lot of hammer and dolly work, or by grafting on a section from another parts car.

Interior: The interior is very original and unmolested. The leather on the front seats is worn, but is still usable and maintains a nice patina. the dash is delaminating on the top left, but all guages are intact and in great condition. When the car was running it was confirmed that the tach, oil pressure gauge, and temperature gauge were operating properly. The rear seat is in excellent condition and the hinge mechanism works perfectly. The floors are covered in the original Jaguar mats, and seem to be pretty solid (minimal rust). The rear cargo area is also nice, however the the spare tire cover does not currently fit due to the rear damage. The original jack, bag, misc. levers, and knock-off tool are all included.

Engine Bay: Again, the engine bay is very original and untouched. All original components are still present and accounted for. As stated and shown in the video, it runs and sounds healthy. The oil was drained and refilled with fresh 20W-50 before starting. It has new spark plugs, and rebuilt Zenith-Stromberg carbs. Everything else is as it was when the car was parked in 1987. Unfortunately the brake and clutch hydraulics are not currently operational, so the car has not been driven - we can only attest to the running of the engine.

Underside: The suspension is present and in relatively nice condition. Luckily the garage it was stored in was dry, so the surface corrosion was kept to a minimum. The car shows sill rust typical of a Northeast British car. The car has not been on a lift for a comprehensive inspection, but it does appear to be pretty solid for an original car.

This is a very original car that has a lot of potential. It is a matching numbers example that could be brought back to show condition.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
