Auction description:
Lot 44
80000 - 100000 EUR
1962 Jaguar E-TYPE COUPE 3.8
French registration document
Chassis no. 886821
The car which illustrates these pages, a 3.8 liter Series 1 with an aluminum console, was built in September 1962, and delivered new to the Parisian dealer Delecroix, in left-hand drive; it was then Opalescent Silver Grey, with a red leather interior
It was restored at great expense between 1995 and 1998 by its third owner, from a completely exposed body (photo file available); the body was repainted in British Racing Green, and the interior was redone in beige leather
Even if we can note some defects (list on request: old paint that has worked, door adjustment, slight engine leak, etc.), the car is in good condition, both cosmetic and mechanical; the cylinder head was recently rebuilt, the cooling circuit revised with the installation of an aluminum radiator, and all the ball joints of the front axle were changed
Type E of French origin are rare on the market, and this fourth hand will appeal to a demanding enthusiast, looking for an example ready to cross France and Europe
