Sellers description:
HISTORY...I purchased this car in Atlanta, Ga. It had been owned by a pilot for a couple of years. He bought it from a pilot friend of his who also lived in the Atlanta area. He had owned it since the early 1980's. This gentleman did most of the restoration work on this car soon after he bought it. I have some receipts from this era regarding upholstery, body work and paint, mechanical work, and many small parts. It had been kept in a hanger over the years and was not exposed to the elements.
BODY and COSMETICS...This car looks fantastic driving down the road. The paint still has a nice shine and it draws looks wherever you go. This car was involved in a small collision back in the early 1980's It suffered minor front end damage and was repaired and repainted at this time. Only upon opening the hood and with a close inspection can you see the repair toward the very front of the hood. As was common at the time, some body filler was used to skim coat the surface. Only in a few places has it begun to even show after 25 years. The rear tail area above the rear bumper must have had a ding that was filled and now it showing some cracking in the paint. The car was given a driver quality paint at the time-it looks good but is certainly not concours quality. It takes a close look to see any paint flaws caused by the passage of time and from the 25 year old paint job. There is almost NO RUST on this car. The floorpans are very solid and show no rust. No rust at all in the trunk area There are a few very small bubbles where moisture has gotten under the 25 year old paint-these are only on a couple of difficult to spot areas such as the very bottom of the drivers rocker and a couple of chips on the bottom of the trunk pan. There was some corrosion under the battery area that affected the area directly underneath. Overall a very solid and good looking Jaguar.
MECHANICAL CONDITION...This Jaguar is in excellent mechanical condition. Matching numbers engine. The previous owner did a fair bit of work on this car to get this car ready for daily driving. The carbs were all rebuilt and the car tuned up. The rear wheel bearing were replaced. The exhaust manifold gaskets were replaced. The radiator hoses were replaced. The car starts easily using the choke. The engine is strong, the brakes and suspension feel great, and the brakes pull the car to a quick stop with no drama. There is an oil leak from the rear of the engine, most likely it's leaking from the rear main seal. I believe that the miles on the odometer are correct. This car would not need much to be a daily driver.
INTERIOR...The interior was all redone in the early 1980s. It still is in very good condition. No rips or tears in the seats or the top. All the gauges work. The original radio works. The wipers don't seem to work. Overall this interior looks great.
SUMMARY...If you're looking for a very nice driver quality E-Type Jaguar Roadster then this car deserves a close look. It looks and runs beautifully. Buy this car and start enjoying it right away!
