Ebay item 1/26/10 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-Roadster-series-1_W0QQitemZ25056981420 ...
Current bid $23,100 reserve not met, 5 bids 6 days left in auction. 80k miles.
Sellers description:
Series 1 e-type roadster for the person looking for a good driver and not a show car. The original engine was replaced at some time with a 4.2 liter engine from a 1967 e-type. Gearbox is still the non-synchro box which came with the 64 model. Engine runs great and has superb compression with 155 to 160 psi in each cylinder! Oil pressure is also very good at 40 psi, at 1,000RPM, when at operating temperature.
Front suspension was recently done with new shocks, bushings, ball joints and tie rods. Brake calipers were re-sleeved by a well know company (White Post Restoration). The rear suspension was rebuilt with new bearings and bushings throughout, plus rotors and brake calipers. The rear suspension looks very nice. Generator was replaced with an alternator and the original two blade radiator fan replaced with a fan that actually moves air. New battery. Electronic ignition.
Engine compartment looks very proper, with its original brake booster and glass washer bottle. Complete interior was redone a couple of years ago and looks good and proper. All the gauges are working, except the clock, which probably stopped in 1965. Has what appears to be an original AM radio, although it is not connected and there are no speakers (who listens to AM radio!). Rear resonators were replaced with ANSA quad exhaust; they do sound good. Soft top is very good. All
rubber seals, including the windscreen, are new. Wire wheels are very good. Most of the chrome is good, except the right rear bumper which shows the most wear. Glass is very good.
Biggest negative is the quality of the paint, which must have been done by an amateur. The body panels are a bit wavy and the paint quality is not the best. The bottom of the doors were repaired and are too thick and do not fit well. They should have replaced the door skins instead of trying to repair them. New door skins are not expensive, approx $185 per door. Of course, none of this affects the driving of the car, but I tend to be very picky with cosmetics. The car does look good
from 20 feet as the paint is very shinny. I get many thumbs up when driving this Jag.
This car drives very good! It comes with over $10K in recent receipts. This Jaguar is ideal for someone that wants an e-type to drive and perhaps make better over time.
