Sellers description:
West Coast Classics are proud to present an extraordinarily rare and completely rust free 1963 Jaguar E-Type XKE Series 1 Convertible Roadster with an extraordinarily rare original factory hardtop, original soft top with soft top frame and chrome wire wheels! This is a truly marvelous example of a long time southern California owned (most recent owner had the car since 1976!)! So here it is, a southern California 1963 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series 1 Roadster which was converted many years ago to a Chevrolet 350 V8 engine and 3 speed automatic transmission with Series II/III seats but still with its four original Jaguar chrome knock off spoked wire wheels and its original spare chrome wire wheel!
We purchased the car from the wife of only the second southern California owner's, who had owned the car for almost 40 years, with the car having been garage stored for some years since the conversion. We recently serviced the car at our British car Specialists, the renown 'British Car Clinic' of Santa Monica, California, where the car received a new water pump, two new front brake calipers and rotors, a new brake master cylinder and the car was serviced and is now running and driving in time for only its third new owner!
The floor boards and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid and rust-free! The car has no signs of any accidents and has a razor straight body. It is a good candidate for a full restoration for the Jaguar enthusiast who may have either a 3.8 or 4.2 Series I engine and transmission available or simply a great daily driver for any classic car enthusiast.
This is therefore an extremely rare opportunity for the Jaguar or British classic sports car enthusiast who is looking to buy a very rare and collectible example of an original southern California 1963 Jaguar XKE Series 1 roadster with its highly desirable original factory lightweight hardtop (with original five chrome fasteners, 3 up front and 1 on each side), its original factory soft top and frame and 5 chrome knock off wire wheels in completely rust free condition!
