Sellers description:
Yet another exciting find direct from a local estate sale- A 1963 3.8 XKE Roadster, arguably the most desirable and pretty of all the E types. The car shows 17,500 miles on the speedo, could this be genuine? Who knows, but worth some research. This particular car was found in a local garage and has been there for the last 4 years, since the owner has passed away. Most of the body is now finished to a driver level and has had all new floors, rocker panels, cross members, and various other sheet metal to make it a solid base from where you can finish this sought after car. The hood, trunk, and trunk floor are good and are almost ready for paint. It will need two new door skins, (one is already removed), and very minor body work. Overall the car is 90%-95% complete and what you don't see in the pictures is probably in the trunk, (that's why the trunk dosen't shut in the pictures). I do believe the car is matching numbers though this will need more research. Mechanically the car has had a full rebuild of the rear end, (there are no springs or shocks installed that's why it's low on the rear end) and has been painted and looks ready for installation. The gearbox similarly is clean and tidy and I would say has recently been rebuilt. The engine turns over and is clean, but I have no idea of the internal conditon. There are also a lot of original items on this car i.e. the chrome, center consul, seats, dash and wires, so if originality is your thing you will be able to get it back to it's former glory, but bear in mind this car is going to be a comparitively easy project, and in my mind is worth strong money, so bid accordingly. I have set a reserve, however, it's very low, so it will get a new owner. The car was picked up dismantled, so I paid a mechanic to loosely put it together for transportation purposes, but this should make your life easy, as nothing is seized up when you take it apart to restore it. NADA values these cars at up to $60,000 when restored,
