Ebay item 8/15/09 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-E-Type-Fabulous-1963-Series-1-Jaguar-XKE-R ...
Current bid $5,000 reserve not met, 2 bids 9 days left in auction. 84k miles.
Sellers description:
An excellent example of what is often described as the world's most beautiful automobile. This is the most desired Series One E-Type roadster with the 3.8 liter dual overhead cam triple carb six making 265 horsepower and capable of nearly 150 miles per hour. Four wheel Dunlop disc brakes bring it to a halt. An older restoration with about 7000 miles since, this is a great driving E-Type. Not concours, but very nice, and an attention grabber in any show. Original matching numbers drive train with the following information from the data plate: Car number 879251, Chassis R6028, Engine RA1468-9 (higher 9-1 compression engine), and Gearbox E89560JS (Original Moss). No color change, always been a red car.
The only modifications from stock are the Mallory HyFire ignition system, a newer high-capacity cooling fan to replace the oft failing originals, the Sony stereo system with trunk (boot) mounted CD changer and amplifier which can be easily removed if desired, and a new solid state fuel pump which looks and nearly even sounds like the original. Also new are a NOS turn signal switch, trunk mat and a NOS top cover. The black cloth convertible top is also nearly new as you can see from the pictures. The fuel filter was recently replaced and the oil was just changed. There is a nearly new Optima Gel type battery. The tires fitted are Avon Turbospeed, the redlines are colored on and can be easily removed if desired. There are a few problems: a small amount of paint lift in the usual places-around the hood louvers and edges- and the driver's side rear wheelwell has minor paint cracking. Aside from that, the restoration seems to have held up very well. Of course the car has always been garaged and not driven nearly enough by me. Now I am losing my storage facility and need to trim the collection, so I am reluctantly selling the Jag.
