•Matching numbers example
•Previous long-term ownership (49 years)
•Extensively restored recently
•Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate

This E-Type roadster's accompanying Jaguar/Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate confirms that it was completed on 14th September 1962 and dispatched to Jaguar Cars, New York on 26th September for delivery to the first owner, Mrs R P Wrinn. '878144' was originally finished in Carmen Red with black upholstery and matching hood. After only five years in Mrs Wrinn's ownership, the Jaguar was sold to Mr John A Battistoni of Torrington, Connecticut and spent the next 49 years in his care. During its time with Mr Battistoni, the E-Type underwent a bare metal restoration by marque specialists, which included refinishing the paintwork, detailing the under-body, renewing all the rubber seals, and re-plating the brightwork as required. The interior was refurbished at the same time, with new leather upholstery, new carpets, new boot mat, and new trim material installed, as well as a new convertible hood and hood bag. A rare period AM/FW/SW radio - still in working order - and seat belts are nice original features.

Mechanically, all major components were removed and either rebuilt or replaced as necessary. The original matching-numbers engine was overhauled and the original transmission rebuilt, since when only a few miles have been covered. All suspension components were refurbished and re-assembled, and a complete new wiring harness installed for reliability. The hydraulic systems were rebuilt and detailed as needed. Shod with new tyres in the correct size, the chromed chrome wire wheels are in excellent condition.

Showing 103,158 miles at time of cataloguing, the Jaguar was recently serviced and detailed; it exhibits integrity only found with carefully maintained and cherished cars, and is an exceptional example of this very desirable model.

Described by the vendor as 'dual purpose', equally suited to either show or drive, this outstanding example of Jaguar's legendary E-Type is offered with its old US Certificate of Title, sundry restoration invoices, and Netherlands registration papers.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
