1962 Jaguar E-Type Convertible, This car was built on July 9, 1962 according to the Jaguar Heritage certificate I obtained and was originally sold to Captain H.F. Heldmyer. The engine and chassis numbers match. In 1995 I bought the car with 41,198 miles and it currently has 47,672 miles. The original engine had a full re-build shortly after I bought it with a tappet guide hold down kit installed; it runs very well and has excellent oil pressure. I had some rust repaired including replacing the drivers side sill and floor by a Jaguar restoration expert. The car has footwells. The paint is nice with some small dings and scratches that you would expect from a 20+ year old restoration. There is a small amount of wear on the drivers seat leather as well. This car was originally Cream with a Black interior and top. Recent work includes a valve and carburetor adjustment, new cooling system hoses, new jockey pulley and a Pertronix electronic ignition installed in the original distributor.
I have the original hard top for the car which is painted body color and is complete except for the rear window trim. The hard top could use a restoration if you plan on using it as the head liner and rubber seals are rough.
Price: $154,000

This 1962 Jaguar XKE is a Series I flat-floor roadster that is believed to have been delivered to its first owner, a US military officer residing in San Antonio, Texas, at the factory in the United Kingdom. It was acquired by the seller in 2016 and subsequently refurbished by XKs Unlimited of San Luis Obispo, California. The car is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six that is mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is finished in Opalescent Gunmetal over red leather, and additional equipment includes a black soft top, a removable hardtop, a soft top boot, enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, dual side mirrors, triple windshield wipers, an aftermarket stereo, and a heater. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, the owner’s manual, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
This Series I is a flat-floor example that features a continuous floorboard under each seat. The car is finished in Opalescent Gunmetal and was repainted in 2017. Additional exterior equipment includes a black soft top, a removable hardtop, a soft top boot, enclosed headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, dual side mirrors, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off hubs and are mounted with 205/65 Pirelli P6000 tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin was reupholstered in 2017 and features bucket seats trimmed in red leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include textured aluminum dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, an aftermarket stereo, and a heater.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 52k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.8-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt in 2017, and an engine cooling fan was added. The exhaust manifolds and header tank were replaced in 2021, and the oil was changed in July 2023.
The cylinder head stamp reads R6577-9.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
