At Russo & Steele Scottsdale auction 1/20/06.
    In May '06 SCM:
"Odo: 7,155. Griffin Aluminum radiator with electric fan. Dull chrome bumpers, and wavy chrome trim on both door tops. Driver's seat shows wear, and there are dents in the console trim. The dash padding is pulling loose at the defrost vents, as is the weather stripping at the rear of the driver's window. The engine appears "as-driven" clean. NOT SOLD @ $60,000. Said to have recent engine, clutch, and transmission restoration, plus bare-metal respray. It started quickly and sure did sound good. Still it had too many issues to pull the $75k low estimate." --Daniel Grunwald

Current bid $5,100 reserve not met 2 bids, 6 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
1962 Jaguar, Series I, XKE, roadster, OTS. (open two seater for you Jaguaristas), stunning in French Blue with a contrasting Stone Grey interior, and blue Everlast convertible top. This is the desirable covered headlamp model with the 3.8 liter motor and matching gearbox. It has recently experienced a mechanical restoration that included complete engine, clutch and suspension. This particular car has participated in several 1000 mile Intrastate rallies and has always been there at the finish.

The Series I “E” Type, introduced in late 1961, was the start of the legendary XKE phenomenon that was to last for an additional 13 years. Some of the advanced features incorporated on these early cars were semi monocoque construction, 4 corner independent suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, a triple carbureted, twin overhead camshaft, 6 cylinder engine, developing 1 horsepower per cubic inch, and the bullet proof Moss gearbox.

This particular example has benefited from a recent, complete body disassembly and bare metal respray. All the supsension fasteners were repalced with new grade 8 hardware. Adjustable Koni shocks are fitted front and rear. The example described here is not an over restored, finicky trailer queen, but rather a well sorted, dependable, driveabe XKE that can be driven, admired and enjoyed. This E has been owned by the same adult, non smoking owner for the past 12 years.

An aluminum radiator and electric cooling fan have been installed to avoid overheating and keep the motor healthy. The seats have been upraded to Series II seats for comfort on long rally drives and they work well to reduce fatique and offer more back support along with the safety of head restraints for driver and navigator.
