This 1961 Jaguar XKE Roadster is a left-hand-drive Series I flat floor roadster that was manufactured on November 27, 1961, and distributed through Jaguar Cars in New York. It was purchased by the previous owner in the early 1980s and imported to Alberta before being disassembled and placed into storage. The car was acquired by the seller in 2014 and underwent a multi-year refurbishment that was recently completed. Work included body repairs, a repaint in Opalescent Dark Green Metallic, a reupholstered interior, a rebuild of the numbers-matching 3.8L inline-six, and installation of a five-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a fawn soft top, chrome 15″ wire wheels, triple SU side-draft carburetors, aluminum trim, a three-spoke steering wheel, and an AM radio. Recent service consisted of adjusting the valves and performing an oil change. This XKE is now offered in Canada with service and refurbishment records, literature, a service manual, tool kit, removed transmission, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and Alberta registration in the seller’s name.

Beginning the in 2015, the body was stripped, placed on a rotisserie, and body panels were repaired or replaced. A repaint in the factory Opalescent Dark Green Metallic was then carried out. Equipment includes split bumpers, welded hood louvers, a flat floor, glass headlight covers, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets. The replacement fawn soft top and matching boot cover are shown fitted in the gallery below.

Aftermarket 15″ chrome wire wheels feature two-eared spinners and are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires sized 185/80. A matching spare wheel and tire are stored under the trunk floor along with a tool kit and case. The suspension was overhauled during the refurbishment and fitted with AVO shocks and aftermarket sway bars. The braking system was also overhauled with new Zeus calipers, rotors, pads, and lines.

The cabin features low-back seats retrimmed in beige leather along with matching door panels, sills, and carpets. Additional equipment includes textured aluminum trim on the dashboard and center console as well as a heater, a period-style AM radio, wood-rim steering wheel, and lap seatbelts.

Smiths instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. The five-digit odometer shows 1,300 miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.8-liter inline-six was overhauled by Miles Import Car Repair of Edmonton, Alberta. Work included porting the cylinder head, and installing Isky camshafts, Crower connecting rods, and larger intake valves. Additional equipment includes polished triple SU side-draft carburetors, a recurved distributor, a Petronix ignition system, an updated rear main seal, an aluminum radiator, and an updated cooling fan. Recent service consisted of adjusting the valves and performing an oil change.

Cylinder head stamping R2872-9 matches the engine number listed on the chassis plate and Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.

The five-speed manual transmission was installed during the refurbishment, and new clutch components and a lightweight flywheel were installed. A Bell stainless steel exhaust system has also been added. The removed transmission that wears stamping EB 1988 JS is included in the sale.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates. Literature, a tool kit, a service manual, and service and refurbishment records are also included in the sale.
