For sale at Sayer Selection of Bawtry. Price on application. Amended seller's description below.

    www.sayerselection.com/1961-jaguar-etype-series-1-roadster

This early bonnet locking E Type roadster chassis 875204 was produced in mid 1961 in stunning Cream, and features fascinating details, only found on early examples. Built in July 1961 as a left hand drive open two seater and although not confirmed it is believed to have appeared in the famous Browns Lane photo of the first batch of dropheads taken on 14 July 1961. The car was then exported to America and was purchased by the Chris Well Servicing Company based in Oklahoma City. Incredibly it was bought as a sales related bonus, then gifted to an employee, Grant Gumbine Snr.

Even though we believe the car was taken off the road in the early eighties due to a gearbox issue, Gumbine still kept the car assuring its future condition as an unmolested one owner from new E Type. It wasn't until 2011, 50 years after he first took delivery, that Gumbine finally decided to sell the car, when the now current owner was visiting family in Toronto, and was contacted by a friend who made him aware of an early E Type that may be available. After a trip to Dallas for a classic race weekend he was rushing for a return flight to Toronto when his friend informed him the car could be viewed.

They visited Gumbine and found it in incredibly original condition. They took images, took the flight and returned home. The car was then acquired and shipped to the UK. The then and now owner embarked on a fastidious nut and bolt preservation rebuild of the car ensuring all original features were retained. Sparingly used since these works completed and only reluctantly available due to health issues preventing its use and enjoyment, this incredible E Type with historical significance is seen within only a handful of cars today. An incredible opportunity to own this unique piece of E Type history.
