Great that DDU 494B may still be around. I owned the car twice between 1967/8 and late 1973 when I lived in Wolverhampton. It was metallic silver whilst I owned it and I did actually have the body refinished in that color as I thought it was the original. Drove many miles and was sad to sell but as the family were growing up there was not enough room. I still have pictures of the car somewhere. There was always a niggling problem with the engine that could not be solved. It had an intermittant light missfire at cruising speeds and even though I ran a garage at the time it was never solved even with specialist attention.
By the way, I also owned an early Jaguar XK120 drop head between 1966 and 1968. Reg number was LXR 888 and I do remember seeing a picture of it on the front page of a motoring newspaper racing at Brands Hatch. It was originally white but had been resprayed red, needed lots of work in particular the bonnett had been modified and the headlight cowls removed. I sold itr in 1968 and believe (?) it was restored and was last seen in Bermuda.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
