car has been restored by Mr. Mark Cooper in 2000 - 2001 and has been fired up for the first time on 15 Oct 2001 after 28 years. it now runs perfectly, with Kenlowe fan, coopercraft brakes, unleaded head, 6' wheels and a 5 speed Getrag Box. the Moss box has been completely restored and put in a glass box on show.

now running on D-type 6' rims and new tyres 205/70 15 and a new more powerful starter motor. engine runs very well... still got some cooling issue which I think I will solve with some "water wetter" potion in the cooling system. second and third gear are addictive.... ehehehehe.... Moss box is still in a cardboard box.... with the old starter motor and the original wheels and tyres. will put everything in the permabag. Car is kept in Carcoon when bad season comes.

2nd / 3rd Sep 2010.... Milan - Zurich - Milan. 500 miles... car run like a swiss clock hence the new nickname... Rolex E-type.
in the Vontobel Summer Party car park no teutonic panzer nor current Bentley or 360 challenge stradale could come near the beauty of a S1 FHC 3.8....

In august 2011 it crossed the alps and went back to UK. weather was horrible. had to stop in Lugano for the night as it was raining hard and it hailed at one point. following morning 4.20 am took the car out straight against the storm... on the Swiss highway - right before the Gothard tunnel - I went through the storm. could only see a white stripe on the tarmac indicating the way. She was running fine. Entered the tunnel we dried up. out of the tunnel the oil pressure dial died on me. Engine was running fine... Just thought humidity killed it. after a while the rain stopped but even the RPM dial died.
Engine kept running. stopped several times to check oil level and everything was fine. Sat-Nav kicked me out of the highway and made me pass by the Bugatti factory.... thank you Garmin.... it then went sunny... engine running fine, no major queue... weather conditions were optimal. not too hot, not too cold.
right before Lille the sat-nav died but not my E-type. she kept running.
Found a lovely hotel in Lille. left the car there and went for dinner. Lovely town...
following morning it was raining but not hard. we drove up to calais for the eurotunnel. Greeted like never before by the Uk customs... a few hours later we were home.
47 years old and did not miss a beat in hard weather conditions....a trip to remember and very proud of my cat.

Great to see an E-Type used as its builders intended!
