Auction description:
Auction Lot: 1963 Jaguar E-Type 3.8-Litre Series I Coupé
Collectors' Motor Cars, Bonhams (2005-07-30 00:00:00)
Restored in 1993, this right-hand drive Series I Coupé once formed part of the private collection of Ray Lippiatt and is the seventh E-Type to be owned by the vendor. The car incorporates a number of worthwhile modifications aimed at enhancing its performance, including competition wire wheels, 2”-bore stainless-steel exhaust system, Girling three-pot brake calipers, up-rated rear springs, 3.07:1 ratio Powr-Lok differential and Koni shock absorbers. ‘698 WKT’ has seen very little use while in present ownership, covering circa 4,000 miles in the past ten years, and is presented in generally excellent condition. Attractively finished in pale blue metallic, this fully sorted driver’s E-Type is offered with current road fund licence, Swansea V5 registration document and fresh MoT.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
