Hi, I'd be keen to hear from the owner of this car. I'm about to start building a roadster a few chassis nos from this car. Has your car got heel wells fitted but a flat rear bulkhead? Thanks...Phil

A car is to be at auction 7/15 that claims to be 850437, unlikely but will post here so the information is not lost.
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php
Auction description:
Lot 173 - 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Litre Roadster
Estimate: £130,000 - £150,000
Registration Number: 1258 WK
Chassis Number: 850437
Since being brought back into the UK, 1258 WK has enjoyed a 2 year rebuild to exacting standards, which has just been completed. As such this stunning car is described as being in excellent condition in all respects.
Presented in its original shade of special order black with red leather upholstery, this is an absolutely exquisite car. This lovely E-Type offers the next owner buyer a fantastic opportunity to purchase one of the best of British motoring history. Given the recent soar in prices of early Series 1 E-Types, we would expect this to also be a solid investment whilst providing elegant, and joyous open-topped motoring.
1258 WK is offered with a MoT certificate and UK V5 document, in addition to invoices and receipts to support its extensive restoration.

Looking at the Coys web page, it would appear to have a 4.2 Inlet manifold. Needs checking out thoroughly In my opinion.

Plus what looks to be a late series 1 / Series 2 pedal box. In fact the whole engine /bay looks to be more 4.2 than 3.8.
Maybe they have mixed the photos up. A real shame to apparently spend so much on a car and get it wrong.
If it is a late pedal box then one has to question the origin/history of the bulkhead.

At Coys 11th July auction
Estimate: £130,000 - £150,000
Registration Number: 1258 WK
Chassis Number: 850437
The Jaguar 3.8 Roadster is one of the most desirable E-Types and this superb example has one of the best specifications one could wish for. This fabulous matching numbers car, built on 16th March 1962, is believed to have covered a mere 15,000 miles from new. Despatched to its first owner in Ireland, 1258 WK went on to spend many years of its life in the kind climate of France.
Since being brought back into the UK, 1258 WK has enjoyed a 2 year rebuild to exacting standards, which has just been completed. As such this stunning car is described as being in excellent condition in all respects.

Auction description:
Lot 272 - 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster
Registration 1258 WK
Chassis Number 850437
Engine Number R4637-8
Odometer reading 15,505 miles
Estimate £140,000 - £160,000
Hammer Not Sold
This genuine, desirable righthand drive 1962 Jaguar E-Type Roadster has the best specification being fitted with the correct 3.8 litre engine, original gear box and bucket seats. This superb matching numbers car was delivered to its first owner Mr Desmond Egan in Dublin, Ireland before spending many years in France. 1258 WK returned to the UK in 1980 and since that time has covered very little mileage. Over the last two years this roadster has been subject to a complete 'ground up' restoration to the highest of standards to its original specification. Finished in its original shade of special order Jaguar black with red leather interior, this stunning E-Type is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate with expires in August 2016 and a file containing invoices from the restoration, old MoT's verifying how little mileage this car has covered since being imported and the Heritage Certificate showing the original specification when it left the factory. This British icon can only be described as being in exceptional condition throughout and offers the new owner one of the best examples of UK motoring history and, with the continued rise in the value of righthand drive models, this head turner should also prove to be a solid, blue-chip investment for the future.

My Grandfather Desmond Egan was the original owner of this car, I wasn't born when he had the car though. As the last posting was 2015, I hope it's still around.
