1961 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster 'Outside Bonnet Lock' - 'Flat Floor'

• Supplied with Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate & well documented ownership file

This very early Series 1 open two-seater, Chassis Number 850050 was built on 22nd June 1961 and subsequently dispatched from Jaguar’s Browns Lane factory on 14th July 1961. Being one of the first E-type’s to come off the production line, it was destined for a dealership to be used as a demonstrator, in this case it was Jaguar agents Hatfields of Sheffield who received chassis 850050.

Being one of the first Series 1 Roadsters built, this E-type features particular details only seen on early examples, most notably: flat floors, external bonnet locks and bonnet louvres pressed in a separate panel - subtle design features but much coveted by discerning Jaguar collectors.

Registered as ‘400 CWJ’, Hatfields of Sheffield sold the E-type to its first owner, Sutherland Foods based in Sheffield. Over the course of the next fifty-five years the Jaguar would go on to have a further six owners, all of whom are recorded within the history file.

Whilst in the previous owner’s care, the E-type was entrusted to a UK specialist to be comprehensively restored to original specification throughout. Various parts of the restoration were outsourced to experts within the E-type field and all of this work is documented by invoices held within the history file. With the restoration work culminating in 2012, ‘400 CWJ’ was sold to the current owner who has completed less than a thousand miles in his ownership.

This very collectable early E-type is complete with spare wheel, indoor fitted car cover and history file accompanied by Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate which confirms the Jaguar’s mechanical and body stampings are correct.
