Ebay item 6/6/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $6,100.00 (Reserve not met), 5 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
I am the third owner. The car was first purchased in June 1971 in Monrovia, California. The second owner bought the car in July 1984 with approximately 44,000 miles. The car was garaged in Arcadia, California until 1996, when I purchased it and had it shipped from California to Maryland. The car’s current mileage is approximately 44,960.

In 1996, prior to shipping the car cross-country in an enclosed van, the carburetors were removed and cleaned, a new battery, water pump, header tank, and belts were installed. The car was instantly drivable once received.

Since 1996, additional new items include four tires (205 70R15 Perelli P4000 BK 95V), front brake pads and front shocks. The gas tank was completely reconditioned using POR-15 fuel tank kit (inside) and repainted (outside), as well as a new fuel pump was installed with new air and fuel filters. Also, a complete ignition tune up (spark plugs, new wires, new rotor and new cap) was performed with routine oil change (including new oil filter). The car is in exceptional mechanical shape.

In 2002, new leather was installed on both front seats (the leather on the back seat is original and in great shape). Also, a complete cleaning and reconditioning of the car’s interior was performed, plus all exterior paint and chrome was cleaned. The interior has an all new appearance with the exception of the headliner, which is original.

The exterior paint is original with a very good shine and very few blemishes. It is important to note that this is an original California car; it is exceptional in that regard with absolutely NO rust concerns. The body, chrome, and all other areas are virtually rust free, plus it has never been in an accident. Again, it is very clean. It has never been exposed to salt or any other snow removal chemicals. In addition, it has not been in the rain since before 1984 in California.

The car runs very strong. It has the 5.3 liter V-12 engine that is buttery smooth. 1971 was the first year for the XKE V-12 and the 1971 version includes the most horsepower and torque available in all XKE V-12 models (subsequent years had diminished performance due to additional emissions control). The car is unbelievably quick and accelerates aggressively at any speed in any gear. The sturdy clutch, velvet shifting transmission, and limited slip differential are an unbeatable combination, all currently in great shape.

Additional Options include: Wire Wheels, Air Conditioning and AM/FM/Short Wave Radio.

The car has been driven periodically, yet regularly, since 1996; only on sunny days and on short trips. It has not been solely stored since 1996. It has received attention (cleaning and maintenance) during the entire period that I have owned it. I regret that with a very active family schedule and heavy job responsibilities, I have not been able to enjoy the car as much as desired.

The car comes with historical records including original purchase order, sales agreement, owner’s handbook, and maintenance records. In addition, various spare parts and car cover are included (the car has been kept covered in its own dedicated garage since 1996).

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
