We have two cars entered today from a private collection in Cornwall - this 1972 Jaguar 'E' Type V12 fixed head coupe and the 1968 Mercedes Benz 280SL roadster. Owing to the extreme distance we have not been to view these cars and we are therefore relying on his own description which can, in some circumstances be misleading, but we have to say that we sold a Mark 2 Jaguar saloon for him some time ago and it was one of the very best we have ever seen - he describes this car as better than that was and we have no reason to disbelieve him.
This superb car has completed a mere 23200 miles from new, which is warranted by the owner, and it will have by the time of the sale a full twelve months M.O.T. certificate. It is painted in Red and it has the original and immaculate Cream interior trim and upholstery as well as the original carpets, which have always been covered with mats, and it naturally comes with the 5343cc twelve cylinder engine and the automatic gearbox. This car will be one of the best you will ever see and there are over five pages of A4 notes made by him to describe what has been done to the car including a full description of those items that have not been touched as they were exceptional anyway. It will have only covered a mere 400 miles since the restoration, which was completed according to the book 'A Guide to Authenticity', was finished and that will include its journey to the sale.
So to sum up - it has only completed 23000 miles and it is immaculate, not to say concours, and where could find another one at any price with that pedigree.
So - if you think John Ruskin's ethos is true - this is the car for you.
