Advertised for sale on Carsales .com.au 5 April 2018, asking AUD$145,000. Advertisement states that it has done 47,820 klm (photos show speedo with miles). Seller’s description: A truly stunning example of this classic 5.3 Litre V12 manual with a rare factory optioned steel electric sun roof.  Delivered to Sydney in July 1972, the car’s body has benefited from our temperate climate leaving it in exceptionally good condition.  Unsurprisingly the Australian sun took its toll on the paintwork and, in 2008 after careful research, it was placed in the hands of a master tradesman for a full bare metal respray in its original colour of Regency Red.  This procedure was fully documented with some of the photographs being shown above.  10 years on and the photos shown are testament to the quality of the work carried out.  The interior was also freshened up with a new headlining and the rear seats were recovered. The car has a stainless exhaust system and braided brake lines. The speedo is in mph. and I would also like to point out that the exhaust tail pipe is assembled upside down!  I like it this way. This original, well cared for, car comes with the handbook, workshop and parts manuals and numerous parts receipts.”

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
