Bonhams Auction, 7/12/2002, Sussex, England. Lot #1134. Action report:

Factory disc wheels. Manual. Genuine low mileage, though factory engine change at 5,000 miles. Original paint, brightwork and leather all good. Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel very period. One owner.

Sold by Fender Broad of Holt in May 2025. Amended seller's description below.

E Type S3 V12 Coupe. One previous owner, totally unrestored and 20,568 miles from new. When will we see another car such as this? I do not know but the story here is wonderful. First registered to Mr F M Willcock of St Helier Jersey on 1st April 1972, the spent its time meandering around Jersey always garaged. It came to England and was registered YFR670 in Summer 2002. The car has been here for 23 years, serviced and driven as part of a small collection. In 2019 the car was serviced and stored away due to the owner's declining health. He has now decided to sell his cars and it comes to sale for the first time in 23 years.

It represents an opportunity to acquire an unrestored, original paint and trim, 20,568 miles car. Where will you find another? The history file is comprehensive and includes the buff log book and Jaguar Service Passport together with photos of the car sprinting in a hill climb on Jersey! The car has been carefully stored in a dehumidified garage. We charged the battery and checked the fluids before starting the car. She fired up easily and runs sweetly with outstanding oil pressure. The car will need a full service and detailing but the signs are good.

As classic car enthusiasts like to bring cars to life under their their own eye we offer the car as a running driving car needing a full service and careful recommissioning. We can do the work and supply the car with a new MoT. The car has its original book packs and a file of service bills with the present owner. A JDHT certificate has been applied for. The car is in its original colour combination of Willow Green with a Beige interior.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
