Car was at auction 9/11
www.bonhams.com/eur/auction/19289/lot/256/

Auction description:
Lot No: 256
One of only 50 made
1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Commemorative Roadster
Registration no. to be advised
Chassis no. 1S.2853BW
Engine no. 7S.16477.SA
Sold for £85,100 inclusive of Buyer's Premium

The rare and exclusive E-Type offered here is one of 50 special roadsters built to commemorate the end of the model's production in 1974. The chassis number sequence commenced at '2822' and ended with '2872', all bar one of the 50 cars being finished in black.
'2953' was previously owned by a Michael Hanson from Preston, who commissioned a detailed Vehicle Examination Report from David W Bell & Partners in 2005. Dated 22nd June of that year, this document states that the Jaguar was originally registered 'XJV 16' and first owned by one A C Durose of Alford, Lincolnshire. In 1992 at 12,626 miles the car went to auction and was bought by Frank Sytner of Nottingham. It then passed to a Director of the Thames Water Authority, A G Poole of Ringwood, Hampshire. Mr Hanson bought the car from Mr Poole in June 1997.
The report notes that the service book contained many entries and that there was a sizeable bill dated 1998 from XK Engineering of Coventry where Mr Hanson had works carried out to bring the vehicle up to the manufacturer's specifications or better. Subsequent major works include a new water pump and full service at Dutton Forshaw (2002); new hood fitted (2003); brake overhaul and callipers rebuilt, etc (2003); and carburettors overhauled (2004). The recorded mileage total at time of inspection in June 2005 was 22,780. The report concludes that the car was in excellent condition - A1 in some classifications and 'showroom' in others - and states that it surpassed any of the 'last 50' that the writer had knowledge of.
Bought by the current vendor circa June 2005, the E-Type has been used regularly but sparingly since then, covering some 3,000 miles in dry weather only. The last of a noble line, this historic E-Type roadster comes complete with hardtop and owner's wallet, and is offered with current road fund licence, MoT to June 2012, Swansea V5C document and a most extensive file of service history, previous owner details, expired MoTs, etc. It should be noted that the cherished registration '2 HCT' is being retained by the vendor.

Car to be at auction 3/13

Auction description:
Lot 120 - 1974 Jaguar E-Type Commemorative - 25,950 miles from new
120 - 1974 Jaguar E-Type Commemorative - 25,950 miles from new
Estimate: £115,000 - £135,000
Registration Number: OSL 136N
Chassis Number: 2853BW

The Series III E-type had a three-year run, with production ending in late 1974. The last 50 cars were all UK-specification, right-hand drive Commemorative models with chrome disc wheels and hardtops. A special plate on the dash read; " This is one of a special series of right-hand drive cars built to identify the conclusion of manufacture of the Jaguar E-type sports car."

The plaque bore Sir William Lyons' signature and the serial number of the car. One car was painted BRG for a customer, the other 49, as the example we offer today, were painted black. The very last car built, number 50, was retained by Jaguar for the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust collection. The chassis number sequence commenced at '2822' and ended with '2872'.

2853 was originally registered XJV 16 and first owned by one A C Durose of Alford, Lincolnshire. In 1992 at 12,626 miles the car went to auction and was bought by Frank Sytner of Nottingham. It then passed to a Director of the Thames Water Authority, A G Poole of Ringwood, Hampshire. 2853 changed hands once more to a Mr Hanson.

The history file contains a sizeable bill dated 1998 from XK Engineering of Coventry where Mr Hanson had works carried out to bring the vehicle up to the manufacturer's specifications or better. Subsequent major works include a new water pump and full service at Dutton Forshaw (2002); new hood fitted (2003); brake overhaul and callipers rebuilt, etc (2003); and carburettors overhauled (2004). A report in the cars file in 2005 (22,780 miles) concluded that the car was in excellent condition - A1 in some classifications and 'showroom' in others - and states that it surpassed any of the 'last 50' that the writer had knowledge of.

Since the current vendors purchase, the E-Type has covered some 3,000 miles in dry weather only. In 2012 the vendor spent a further £18,000 with XK engineering on various works, including a re-spray. The car has only covered a mere 150 miles since.

The last of a noble line, this historic E-Type roadster comes complete with hardtop and owner's wallet, and is offered with current road fund licence, MoT Swansea V5C document and a most extensive file of service history, previous owner details, expired MoTs, etc.
