This 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster was acquired by the current owner in 1990, and a refurbishment was performed later that year by Realistic Auto Restorations of Saint Petersburg, Florida. The car went on to win awards at various concours d’elegance between 1992 and 2002. Powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, the vehicle is finished in red over black leather. Earlier-style bumpers have been installed, and other features include a black convertible top, a black removable hardtop, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, quadruple carburetors, air conditioning, and an AM/FM stereo. The carburetors were serviced and touchup work was performed on the paint in early 2024. This Series III E-Type is now offered in Florida on dealer consignment with refurbishment records and photos, service records dating back to 1989, an owner’s manual, removed Series III bumpers, and a clean Maryland title.
The car is said to have been refinished in Signal Red after being stripped down to bare metal during the aforementioned refurbishment. Earlier-style bumpers are fitted, and other equipment includes a black-painted removable hardtop, a black convertible top, a black top boot, a power antenna, a driver-side mirror, uncovered headlights, and a forward-hinged louvered hood. The paint was touched up in February 2024, according to the seller.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with 205/75 Michelin Defender tires that were replaced in 2017. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The black leather seats were refurbished in 2016. Interior appointments include air conditioning, a British Leyland–branded AM/FM stereo, black carpeting, and a center armrest.
The steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are located in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 32k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer cable was replaced in 2013.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new. A high-torque starter and electronic ignition were installed in the mid-2010s, and the carburetors were serviced in February 2024.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
Refurbishment photos and records will accompany the vehicle. The seller states that the cost of the refurbishment was approximately $32,500 in 1990.

Car now offered in Hemmings 4/25/25, seller Hennesey Automotive Group
www.hemmings.com/listing/1974-jaguar-xke-789217
Asking Price $100,000
Seller's description:
This XKE Roadster (Serial number 25773) is here on consignment from a local collector who we've done business with for many years. He's up in age now and is starting to find new owners for his cars. Hence, we've been hired to find a suitable buyer for this amazing XKE. This E Type has 32,465 original miles and 3,169 on the restoration - it also comes with a factory hard top.
*The paint is not matte - it is gloss. We are working on new lighting solutions*
The seller has owned the car since January 15th of 1990. The odometer reading on the day of the purchase was the original 28,306. It was purchased from the renowned Jaguar specialist/collector Bill Tracy here in Sarasota, Florida. Bill passed away in 2019 ~ for those who enjoy the history behind certain cars: Ask me for the link to his obituary which showcases some of the cars he owned.
Our seller drove the car around for 989 miles the first five months, then decided to have the car completely restored. As he says, "the car didn't need restoration, I just fell in love with the car and wanted it to be like new". And, he wanted an award-winning show car.
The restoration was launched on May 17th of 1990. It was done by Realistic Restorations in Clearwater, FL. ( [Contact Dealer] ); they are still in business and going strong.
The cost of the restoration was $32,409.23 all added up. Adjusted for inflation that is the equivalent to $77,243.89 in today's dollars.
The odometer reading at the time of the restoration commencement was 29,295. Again, that is all documented original miles.
We have the documentation of the restoration including photographs and detailed invoices.
On October 12th, 1992, 25773 was entered into the NCJOC Concours D' Elegance and won 1st in class with 99.44 points.
Many, many awards were captured at many, many shows during 1992 to 2002. The last Concours D' Elegance was in 2002 whereby 25773 won first place (again).
"Wait a minute!"...say the Series III aficionados. Aficionados are questioning how this car won so many shows with the incorrect bumpers. Answer: it had the correct bumpers during its 'show years'. After 25773 stopped competing in all the shows, the owner had the bumpers converted. He never liked the looks of the Series III bumpers.
The original bumpers come with the sale of the car -
with all of the factory original hardware.
Also included in the sale is the original factory hardtop
that was restored at the time of the total restoration in 1990.
Starts right up - no need for a rain dance to get it running
Not cold blooded
very smooth acceleration
transmission shifts smooth
excellent feel to the clutch
solid suspension - nice feel to the ride.
the brakes are excellent - spot on
