Re-commissioned and sold by DD Classics of Kew in 2014. Described as a time warp series 3 roadster that has covered only 9,626 miles from new. St Peter Port Garages of Guernsey sold the car new to Mr Duquemia on 24 September 1973 who had ordered it British Racing Green paintwork with contrasting Cinnamon interior. On the island of Guernsey it led a cocooned existence being used only occasionally.

In about 1978 it returned to the mainland and was sold first to Mr Hill and then in 1984 to Mr Palatin of Amersham where it formed part of a collection of nine cars. In 1995 it was sold to the previous owner who never drove the car, it being insured on a laid up policy. The car was sold with a history file detailing previous owners, owners manual and JDHT Heritage certificate.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
