Ebay item 11/2/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $10,000 reserve not met, 8 bids, 4 days left in auction. 90k miles.

Sellers description:
1973 Jaguar XKE Series 3 roadster with hardtop. Burgundy exterior with tan interior. This car has a Chevy V-8 engine in the car. The original engine is not in the car and does not come with the car. It is an automatic transmission. It has problems starting but will start with some coaxing. The fuel pump runs inconsistently. Electrically, the car could use some work as well. Once the car is running, the engine sounds very good and the car runs and drives, and stops. My feeling is whoever did the retrofitting didn’t do a great job and patched up some simple problems along the way. The brakes have been redone.

The interior is in good condition with newer interior seat covers and door panels. The carpets are average. The soft top is there but the back window is not in good condition. The dash is in average condition. There are no tools. The spare is in the trunk. There are no manuals.

The exterior has an older paint job and it looks like the hard top was either not done at the same time or if it was, it was not cared for the same way. The glass is good all around. There are no original front bumpers. There are some stone chips in the paint but no visible dents around the body.

I don’t want to oversell or undersell this car but I do believe it is perfect for someone who has always wanted a Jaguar XKE, has the ability to fix the ails in the ignition and starter system, or who has a V12 engine and can retrofit it properly. My reserve is low for an XKE roadster of any series where there is much potential.
This car has a clear title and is located in the Detroit, Michigan area.

This car is being represented fairly and to the best of my knowledge. Please email me for any questions and more digitized images. I have the right to end the auction early because it is advertised elsewhere. This car has a clear title and is located in the Detroit, Michigan area. This is an as-is purchase. If you are not a serious buyer, please don’t bid. I have set the reserve to sell.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
