Car to be at auction 3/14
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php
Auction description:
Lot 138 - 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster
Estimate: €70,000 - €85,000
Registration Number: EU Registered
Chassis Number: 1 S 2276
This original right hand drive Jaguar E-Type V12 roadster has covered a warranted total mileage of only 20,905 miles from new, with evidence to demonstrate that this is accurate.
A surprising proportion of V12 E-Types, being the last of a great dynasty, were carefully stored, 'laid down' like fine claret, by their first owners, and this is an exceptional example. It was sold new in England, and its first owner, from 1973 until 2008, was a Mr. C.W.P. Martin who covered a mere 19,640 miles in his 35 years of ownership.
It was stored professionally in England from 1992 until 2008, which is certified and signed for by the storage company. The second owner, Mr G Taylor, another Englishman, held the motor car from 2008 until 2010, and it covered just 86 miles in his two years of ownership.
At 19,726 miles in 2010 the car was bought by its third owner, who imported it into Germany and who is the present vendor. This extraordinary specimen has now covered the startlingly low total of a mere 20,905 miles in the whole of its forty one years of life. It is, as one would expect, described as being in superb condition and comes with the following documentation to confirm its history :
- All UK tax and MOT stickers, its original 1970s British Leyland Service book, stamped with all services, all originally-supplied sets of keys, its original handbook, service invoices, its new car invoice, expert evidence by Classic Date from June 2012, since when the car is stored again.
The last owner has had fitted the very sensible upgrades of a Kenlowe fan, new Avon tyres, and a Waxoyl rustproofing treatment to the underside.
Needless to say, this close-to-unrepeatable specimen of the V12 Jaguar E-Type drives beautifully, and still has the huge majority if its functional life ahead of it; the next owner stands to reap the benefit of the exaggerated care the car has received in its pampered life, and it will without doubt enhance the finest collection, and of course drives perfectly.
