62,586 MILES, ON EBAY 05/08, SELLER WRITES: Up for sale is our treasured, amazingly beautiful, amazingly rare Jaguar E-type XKE 12 cylinder convertible, with manual shift!! Included with the original car are many performance enhanced upgraded parts.

We are downsizing and feel that this car would love a new home, as it is not driven except on rare occasions and so sits sullenly in the garage. In fact, our garage is a bit crowded and as a result it has two small grazes on the driver's side bonnet from cramming in our Harley Road King. (To see them, enlarge the third picture on the left in the top row.)

As we could never make up our minds, “Show or go?” the vehicle is poised to go in either of two ways, concours (it has already won several firsts in the driven class of our local South Florida Jaguar Club’s concourses d’elegance), or autocross with its rebuilt engine its ready to roar!

It has 55,000 miles showing but 8,000 miles following its rebuild.

This car has been garage-kept and meticulously maintained over its lifetime. Cosmetically this restored, original daily driver looks almost new, with its new leather seats, tonneau cover, restored dash, and gauges.

Its exterior is the original British racing green. The original spoke wheels have been replaced by gleaming Dayton spokes. This Jag's well-kept and rebuilt condition is a testament to how much pampering this car has been privy to over the years, including many enhancements, even to the original air conditioning system (after all, we do live in Florida!).

Now, let’s get down to business. Mechanically, this XKE has had the following upgrades and restoration.

First, the original but troublesome Zenith-Stromberg carburetors that were standard equipment for Jaguar V12 E types have been replaced by high performance carbs; however, the original carburetors will also be sold with the car as the new owner needs the original parts if s/he will be participating in concours d’elegance.

The original camshafts have been replaced in order increase power in the high performance engine.

Our most recent upgrade, completed in the past year, was a completely rebuilt clutch with a special aluminum lightweight flywheel for improved performance.

This XKE V12 comes complete with the original jack kit and original "knock-off" wheel hammer kit.

The NADA High retail on these Jaguars is over $100,000 for close to “trailer queen” quality and many like ours which would approximate a 20 footer (as rated by Hagerty) for $65,000.

We are sure there will be questions because all the details on this rare Jaguar are too numerous to list, so feel free to contact John Gommel at 561-451-9421 or via email at jagommel@comcast.net.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
