This 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is finished in dark blue over beige leather, and features include a tan soft top, a luggage rack, 15″ chrome wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, quadruple SU carburetors, an AM/FM radio, and a heater. This Series III E-Type was acquired by the selling dealer in 2023 and is now offered as a running project at no reserve with and a clean California title.
The car is finished in dark blue and features a tan soft top, uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, and a power antenna. Wear and wrinkles are noted on the soft top, the antenna is broken, bubbling paint is visible on the rocker panels, and other chips and imperfections are visible.
Chrome-plated 15″ steel wheels are mounted with 205/70 Goodyear Assurance tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in Biscuit leather as well as color-coordinated door panels and beige carpets. Interior amenities include an AM/FM radio, a locking glovebox, and a heater. Wear and discoloration are visible on the driver’s outer seat bolster, and the three-spoke steering wheel is cracked around the rim.
Smiths instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock is mounted in the center stack along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 77k miles, a handful of which were added by the selling dealer. Total mileage is unknown.
The 5.3-liter V12 features quadruple SU carburetors and was rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The selling dealer states noise is coming from the power steering pump, the exhaust leaks, and that service and tuning will be required before extended driving.
