Ebay item 10/23/04 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $5,119.69 (Reserve not met), 5 bids, 6 days left in auction. This car was in Huntsville, Alabama in 1991.
Sellers description:
1971 Jaguar Series III E-type Roadster (restoration in progress)
The featured Jaguar in this listing is a stalled restoration of a rare and gorgeous E-Type Jaguar. This is a 1971 Series III E-Type Roadster, the first year to have the 314 horsepower, V-12 engine with 4 Stromberg sidedraft carburetors. The history of the car has been verified by Jaguar Cars, Inc. as the 4th LHD Series 3 OTS to be shipped to the U.S.
It is light blue exterior, dark blue interior, dish-type wheels, Borg Warner automatic, and has AC.
The roadster has had a ground-up restoration, including a blueprint spec engine rebuild, new bonnet and tub. It has had a show quality paint and G.W. Bartlett original spec interior complete with flooring, leather seats, all new panels, dash, top, top cover and rubber seals. The restoration is 85% complete and all parts come with it to finish it. Upon completion, this E-Type should be valued above $50,000.
The car is sold as is. It is stored in a building in McKinney, Texas.

Charles, please do! Beautiful car. As with many good restorations the car will be better than it was when it left the factory when you get done.

Car number 4 has just come out of a 3 year painstaking restoration. The objective of the project was to restore the car to factory specifications with a quality of workmanship never achieved by the Jaguar factory. A brief study of the photographs will confirm the high level of effort put forth and the stunning results.
While studying the photographs, notice the extensive use of original, rare and highly desired Cheney hose clamps, replated, of course. Notice the original style reproduction tires produced by Dunlop. Each tire cost over $450 today! Original shock Girling shock absorbers mounted on the front. Do you see the blue convertible top? Every Jaguar enthusiast knows that all series 3 Etypes left the factory with a black vinyl top - except car number 4 and car number 5! These two cars, identical in color configurations, left the factory with a dark blue top! Also notice the wonderful trunk lid lines - gaps as perfect on this Etype is a rare occurance. Observe the rechromed bumpers and how perfectly they hug the body.
The car has been completly rebuilt. It is essentially a new car - rebuilt engine, transmission, suspensions, brakes, interior, etc. Pull the choke, turn on the ignition, pause a moment for the carburetors to fill their bowls, and turn the key. The engine turns over with a whine and then fires up with the typical Jaguar V12 smoothness and settles into a velvety roar which is distinctly Jaguar. The transmission shifts smoothly with a firm authority. Incidentally, if you've never driven a V12 Etype, the engine produces a tremendous amount of torque. The dark blue interior is from the famous BAS Ltd which has a high reputation in Jaguar club circles. (Incidentally, the seats are dark blue and appear in the photos lighter than they actually are)
I've been Jaguar enthusiast for years, worked as a British car mechanic and owned/restored a handful of Jaguars since the mid 80s. This car has beautiful workmanship and will be the top attraction at any Jaguar or other classic car show.
The car is being sold because it is finished and it is time to move onto the next project which has already been selected - no trades please.
The car is located in Dallas, TX
