Additional sellers description:
This 1969 Jaguar Series II XK-E Roadster has been with the seller's family since 1979 and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six is backed by a 4-speed transmission. It was refinished in the 1970's in the original shade of Pale Primrose Yellow and includes a matching factory hardtop. The seller's father drove it approximately 3,000 miles before putting it in storage in 2003. In late 2016, the seller had it mechanically recommissioned by Autobahn Power in Wichita, Kansas. It benefits from a recent service including an overhauled fuel system, new water pump, and tune-up. A new set of Michelin XVS tires have been installed and the brakes and suspension were recently serviced. It is now being offered with records from the recent service and a clean Kansas title.
The body was repainted in the claimed-original shade of Pale Primrose Yellow, prior to the seller's father's acquisition. The seller reports areas of corrosion under the rear wheel openings and a dent is present on the driver side rocker panel. An undercoating treatment was also applied by the previous owner that is visible on the underside of the chassis and the wheel wells under the bonnet. Where the undercoating has chipped away, the original red primer is visible.
The chrome wire wheels wear a new set of Michelin XVS radials with new inner tubes. The matching factory hardtop is largely well preserved but there is a 2" scratch present in the finish and the rubber seals have dried out.
No tears or major imperfections are present on the soft-top, according to the seller. Three wiper blades were utilized on S1 and S2 E-Types.
The cabin is trimmed in beige with a black dash and a Nardi wood rimmed wheel. Aside from the clock, all interior function including the radio and Smiths instrumentation are reported to work properly. 39k miles are shown on the odometer and believed to be accurate.
The DOHC inline-six was serviced in January 2017 with a timing chain adjustment, tensioner service, replacement water pump, valve adjustment, and a full fluid change. Both Stromberg carburetors have been rebuilt and the fuel system benefits from a new galvanized fuel tank, sending unit, tank sump, and hoses.
The engine is reported to maintain 40psi of oil pressure at idle, along with a steady running temperature. The second gear synchro exhibits some wear on downshifts, per the seller. Clutch actuation benefits from a new master and slave cylinder. The engine is claimed to be original, and the following production stampings have been provided by the seller:
Chassis: 1R8970
Engine: 7R803-9
Body: 4R4138
Gearbox: KE5584
The front brake calipers have been rebuilt and a new servo, master cylinder, auxiliary master cylinder, and hoses have been installed. New upper and lower ball joints have also been fit to the front control arms. Rust is present around the battery box.
An original owner's booklet, soft-face mallet, and original jack are included with the sale. The matching spare wears a new Michelin XVS tire. A brief walk around video of this Series II E-type may be seen below.
